'Caring for the Less Fortunate'

The Eighty Club Melbourne for over 39 years, been in the forefront of Caring for the Less Fortunate.

Since its inception in 1982 the Club has expanded in its care for the elderly who have no income or any other means of support.
Furthermore, a Student Sponsorship Program helps educate generations of school children, who did not have the finances to meet the cost of educational needs.

The Club has provided our Welfare beneficiaries with a monthly pension to help pay for accomodation, food and medical aid. The Club has also extended it's scope of activities to provide reading glasses and all those who require cataract surgery can avail themselves to free remedial surgery, paid through donations for this project.

We can only continue our work, through the good auspices of our members and well-wishers. The donations we receive are a major part of our fund-raising income. Membership subs/fees and monies from our fund-raising functions help boost these donations.

Unfortunately the ongoing pandemic of COVID 19 has curtailed our fund-raising events and our ability to raise much needed funds. COVID 19 has also made life more difficult to many and those poor people with little or nothing, being the hardest hit. The resulting increase in the cost of living has had a devastating impact in their lives, as food items are scarce and increased in price.

OUR APPEAL TO ALL OF YOU IS TO REACH OUT AND HELP.

We do understand that many of us are also facing hardships and look forward to an end to this pandemic. Just imagine the plight of those who have nothing.

Please consider the many avenues in which you may help and every donation large or small, goes a long way to help us care for the poor.

The Management Committee comprises of members who nominate to serve on the Committee and by donating their time and goodwill help to continue and care in our mission to help the the 'Less Fortunate' .
These Committee members recieve no financial or other material benefits from serving and apart from minimum administrative costs, appromimately 95% of your donations are used to fund the poor.
